The Digital Kit programme: The ultimate digital evolution for SMEs

1.5 million SMEs and the self-employed will experience significant progress in their level of digital maturity thanks to the Digital Kit programme, an initiative by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation published in the Spanish Official State Gazette (BOE) on 30 December and equipped with over 3 billion euros in subsidies for the period 2021-2023.

What is the Digital Kit and who is it for?

The programme has a clear objective: to subsidise the implementation of digital solutions for SMEs and the self-employed in order to support them in their digital transformation process.

Thanks to these subsidies, with technology you can evolve and improve your business by accessing a wide range of digital solutions in different areas such as Internet presence, e-commerce, social media management, digitalisation of customer relations, secure communications and cybersecurity.

What does the Digital Kit offer?

The programme will provide companies with a digitalisation voucher stating the amount of money they will have at their disposal to purchase off-the-shelf digital solutions that best fit their needs in the area.

The rules of the ‘Digital Kit’, in addition to outlining the conditions that companies must meet to apply for these grants and subsidies, specify that when the calls for applications are launched, depending on the number of employees, companies will be able to access subsidies of €12,000, if they have between 10 and 50 employees; €6,000 for those with between 9 and 3 employees; and €2,000 for those with fewer than 3 or no employees.

Steps to follow to apply for your digital voucher

  1. Register at www.acelerapyme.es and complete the self-assessment test.

This will show the level of digitalisation that your company has in order to receive more specific assistance and to be recommended services tailored to your needs.

  1. See the digital solutions catalogue.

You will be able to choose one or more of those offered by the digitalising agents (entities forming part of the programme to collaborate in tasks regarding the application and presentation of documentation), those that best adapt to the needs of your business.

  1. Apply for the Digital Kit grant at the Red.es electronic office (sede.red.gob.es).

Complete the steps in the form.

However, it is important that you know how to use your digital voucher. First, access the catalogue of digitalising agents to decide who you want to develop your digital solution with. After this step, contact the digitalising agents, sign the digital solutions service agreement and start your digital switchover!

What are the eligibility criteria for the grant?

Do you meet the following conditions? If so, the Digital Kit programme is for you!

  • You are a small or micro-enterprise or self-employed
  • You are not considered to be a company in difficulty.
  • You are up-to-date with tax and Social Security obligations.
  • You are registered in the Register of entrepreneurs, professionals and withholders of the State Tax Administration Agency [AEAT] or in the equivalent register of the Regional Tax Administration.
  • You do not exceed the ceiling for de minimis aid (small amounts)
